About F&F

It all began with Forge. One month after our wedding we walked into the Animal Refuge League of Portland and found little Forge. He was the craziest little guy. He required so much activity so we began hiking everyday. Through our adventures we found a great respect for nature and small ecosystems. Forge & Fern Terrariums was born from our family adventures and are a reflection of what we discover in the woods of Maine.

What are Terrariums & why should I add one to my home?

Terrariums are small, enclosed ecosystems. They can house a variety of different temperate and tropical plants and mosses. They are typically made from glass to allow the plants to photosynthesize incoming light.

At Forge & Fern we strive to make our terrariums easy to care for. Our pieces have thriving ecosystems. All our terrariums come with springtails and isopods. These creatures are referred to as the clean-up crew. They ingest debris and organic matter and generate waste that provides nutrients for the moss and plants.
