The inside of your Terrarium
Clean-up Crew
All terrariums created by Forge & Fern Terrariums have a clean-up crew (CUC). Our CUC consists of springtails and some terrariums contain various species of isopods. They have an essential role in maintaining a healthy and balanced ecosystem. The small organisms help break down waste, control mold, and keep the environment clean.
Tips for growing plants in your Terrarium
Tropical plants are a popular choice for terrariums due to their lush foliage, vibrant colors, and adaptability to the humid environment of a terrarium.
Lighting:
Most tropical plants prefer bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can cause overheating and leaf burn.
Humidity:
Maintain high humidity levels, which are essential for tropical plants. Mist the plants regularly or use a closed terrarium to retain moisture.
Watering:
Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Overwatering can lead to root rot, while underwatering can cause stress and leaf drop.
Temperature:
Tropical plants thrive in warm temperatures, typically between 65-85°F (18-29°C). Avoid placing the terrarium in drafty areas or near heat sources.
Air Circulation:
Ensure proper air circulation to prevent mold and fungal growth. Ventilate closed terrariums occasionally to allow fresh air exchange.
